The Little Things That Matter About Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is today's second leading death cause of women in the United States, next to lung cancer. Just this year, there are over 3 million survivors that can testify breast cancer is a treatable and preventable disease. While it seems like a major disease, there are little things that women should know to avoid breast cancer.

As said, breast cancer can be prevented and the only way to do this is early detection. Breast cancer at its early stages does not show any major symptoms. When the tumor is more developed and becomes bigger, only then can a woman feel there's something wrong with her breasts. In line with this, women are suggested to undergo breast screening every month, possibly at the same date every time. Women who are over 50 years old are more prone to breast cancer and they should regularly undergo screenings as well.

Furthermore, women who breastfeed are less likely to develop breast cancer than those who do not. The longer they breastfeed, the better. What other better way to bond with your child and reduce the risk of breast cancer than breastfeeding?

Women who are apt to living healthy lifestyle have lesser risks, and the earlier they start the better. For a big health issue like breast cancer, sometimes it's the little things like these are what matters.
